In der letzten Woche bin ich einmal durch meine alten Skizzenbücher gegangen, um mir auzusehen, wie sich meine Zeichnungen im Laufe der Jahre entwickelt haben. Ich habe mich sehr verbessert, was die Proportionen angeht und zeichne Körper viel geschmeidiger, aber mir ist (zum wiederholten Male) aufgefallen, dass die Zeichnungen etwas an Lebendigkeit eingebüßt haben. Außerdem habe ich mir früher viel mehr Mühe mit den Details gegeben. Daran wollte ich diese Woche arbeiten und das Ergebnis seht ihr oben. Noch nicht ganz wohin ich will, aber mögen tu ich das Bild trotzdem. Ich habe aber auch schon überlegt, mal zu versuchen, den Stil etwas zu simplifizieren und zu schauen, wo das hinführt. Aber das ist eine Sache für ein andern Mal…

Last week I went trough my old sketchbooks to see the progress I made along the years. I improved a lot in drawing proportions correctly and the figures ceased to look stiff. However, I realized (again) that my drawings used to look much more lively and I took a lot more care in drawing the details. I wanted to work on that this week and you can see the result above. Not quite in the direction I want to go but I like the picture. Also, I thought about trying to simplify my style for a change and see where it leads. But thats for another day…
